Work In Progress

Each day we wake up and get ready to go to work. We work all day just so we can go home and relax…for the next day’s work. We do this every day so we can get to the weekend. So what then do we do on the weekend? Try to get enough rest so we can go to work on Monday. It seems to be an endless cycle.

Yet, in the middle of all that we try to fit in “God”. Aren’t we doing it backwards? Shouldn’t we be focused on God every day and then fit in work? Seems great in an ideal world, doesn’t it? Yet how would we pay our bills? How would we eat? How do we make the house payment? Unfortunately, I don’t have that answer.

Matthew 6:25 says “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?”

Sometimes, I wish I were rich. Then I would have time to do all the things I’ve always wanted to do. Travel around the world. See Europe. I’ve always wanted to visit Israel. Wait, if I were a rich man (I know, I thought of that as soon as I wrote it) would I put God first and then “fit” in everything else? Probably not, I would just put those “things” first and be right in the same rut.

Matthew 19:24 “Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

No I don’t think being rich is a priority to me. (If you have any extra money lying around though I would be more than happy to take it off your hands) And yes, I do worry about the day to day issues in our lives. Good thing I am still a work in progress.

But I think today, I will stop everything that I am doing, and put God first. Then I will finish my day here at work, go home and get some rest so I can go to work tomorrow. Then try and rest on the weekend and be back here at work on Monday.

I second that thought and actually it has been on my mind since returning from AZ this last time.
