Our goal is to follow and serve Christ by working with 3:18 Ministries on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation. 3:18 is a brand new ministry, born of an overwhelming desire to see new life rise on the Reservation out of the darkness, as people do not just hear about God’s love, but truly experience it. This new venture is based on the verse from 1 John 3:18, “…let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth.” The Apaches are a hurt and lost people who need to not just hear words, but to see and feel God’s love. They have heard words over and over that have not been true, it’s time they heard the Truth. 3:18 Ministries is led by Tory and Kara Satter, who have lived and worked with the San Carlos Apaches for over seven years and have paved the way to building stronger and deeper relationships on the Reservation.
3:18 Ministries assists on the Reservation by:
- Leading kids and teens through Vacation Bible School (VBS), after school programs and sports activities;
- Teaching a class at the tribal run youth home and local high risk school on parenting skills;
- Developing relationships with teens and adults through casual meetings and outings to develop discipleship groups;
- Intentionally living our lives with our brothers and sisters, showing the Light in a spiritually dark and desolate place;
- Working alongside missions teams joining us from around the world in providing VBS, kids programs and sports activities, various repair work on the elderly’s homes through the guidance of the Tribal Council and working alongside Apache brothers, etc.
Future dreams -
- Encouraging our Apache friends’ walk with God through Bible studies, prayer meetings, discipleship groups, etc.;
- Distributing food as needed to adults, praying with them, providing neighborhood BBQ’s;
- Prayer group with teen girls in troubled situations;
- Mobile oil changing ministry – teaching young men car repair basics, providing equipment and supplies to change oil for people in need;
- Helping start a Coffee shop/juice bar on the reservation, employing natives and teaching them to run it; holding afternoon get-togethers, Bible study, or church service @ 3:18pm.
This is just a small sampling of what 3:18 Ministries is all about and how they are being Jesus to a hurting Native Harvest field at our own backdoor. But they desperately need help. They have asked us to join the battle, how could we refuse?
a. We are moving to Globe, AZ to join our friends at 3:18 Ministries. We believe in what they are doing to spread the glory of the Lord to all nations and wish to join in the battle.
b. We will need to raise all of our own support for living expenses, ministry work, etc. from individuals, churches, families, and organizations. These expenses include regular budget items; food, clothing, housing, transportation, utilities, taxes, social security, health and life insurance and retirement.
c. Obviously a move like this cannot be accomplished alone. With God leading, we are looking for partners in the journey. Here are some ways you can team up with us:
We have not entered into this decision quickly or without serious prayer. We have the full recommendation and endorsement of our Senior Pastor from KACC, Shane Womack, as well as the Cross-Cultural Missions Pastor, Mike Carman. For years we have felt the call to make this move, and God is now opening the doors and leading us through. We have been preparing and praying; our children are getting settled into their lives. Now is the time. Together we can “Declare His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.” Psalm 96:3
